CHARLIES LAKE
The main lake and indeed the oldest lake at our fishery is roughly 1.85 hectares in size. Shaped like a letter T the lake is a picturesque reed lined lake with areas of marginal Lilly beds and an island placed in the centre of the lake. The lake bank is lined with many mature trees that break up the purpose built swims and help provide a natural space between the anglers.
With in the depths of the main lake live at least five known thirty pound carp with the heaviest of these last being caught at thirty seven pounds. As for the twenties the lake contains at the very least thirty four of these and there is an amazing number of double figure carp the majority of these are common carp.
You can see why the lake is so popular with carp anglers of all abilities.
The catfish which were stocked seven years ago at an average weight of one and half pounds have grown rapidly and this year we have seen a forty eight pounder grace the bank. Last year we had five different forty pound cats caught in one week!
We would say that the lake is relatively easy to fish with few snags but catching the fish is a different matter!
THE MATCH LAKE
Being about one acre in size with an island running through the middle the match lake is the ideal venue for both the competitive and pleasure angler.
Being stocked with a variety of silver fish and carp which incidentally run into the twenty pound category the match lake is also an ideal and tranquil place where interested and enthusiastic youngsters accompanied by an adult can learn and enjoy Fishing as it should be!
We have an ever growing selection of photos that we like to publish of the fish that have been caught and we publish new ones as often as we receive them.
